Agriculture Loans

Agriculture Loans Detail
The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Food and Agriculture on Friday expressed dissatisfaction that the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the ZTBL – regarding agriculture loan losses –have still not come up with a ‘decision’ that how to compensate farmers for the loss of loans.
The Committee believed that the loans worth Rs 44 billion – which were lost due to the recent devastating floods – should be written off 100 percent. The compensation should be granted to all cases/borrowers, which have suffered partially or otherwise.
The committee, presided by Javed Iqbal Warraich, directed MINFA to ensure completion of Assistance Plane before November 1, 2010 or before date of sowing of Rabbi crop in different areas.
The Committee further directed to ensure availability of variety of wheat, seed and fertilizer etc in all areas of the country. It also expressed sorrow that MINFAL and ZTBL did not collect the correct data, nor was relief paid to the poor farmers and no amount reimbursed to the farmers so far. They suggested that the five scheduled banks should pay 10% of their profit as loan to the affected farmers.
