Agricultural Society

Agricultural Society Detail

Established in 1936, to Foster and keep alive by Competition, the Agricultural Craft of Ploughing and Hedging.  Encourage members to take a  competitive interest in Growing of Crops, and enjoy the various Social Events organised on their behalf.
Riviere Qui Barre is located just a short drive north west of St.Albert and the City of Edmonton .
Originally settled by French immigrants from Belgium, France, the USA and Quebec in the late 1800s, the hamlets name was derived from the small river that the local Cree residents called “Keepootakawa” or the “river that bars the way”.
This small but vibrant community is home to Camilla School (Gr K-9) which houses 500+ students, St. Emerence Catholic Church, and the Riviere Qui Barre Recreation Centre which includes an ice arena, community hall, kitchen and meeting rooms.
There is a very strong commitment to community organizations by the local residents with thousands of volunteer hours given to the local 4H Club, the RQB Minor Hockey Association, Fun Hockey, Alcomdale Soccer Association and the RQB Agricultural Society which manages the RQB Arena and Community Hall.
