Agriculture, as commonly agreed, is the mainstay of the nation's sustenance and development. Bauchi State, as widely recognised, is part of the "food basket" of the nation. Apart from this, the State is known for the production of maize, cotton, millet, guinea-corn, and groundnuts. The State government, therefore, has been given a significant encouragement to go into large-farming scale in these. Furthermore, very consigns of the importance of full dams, especially for irrigation farming, the administration of Ahmadu Adamu Mu'azu designed and went into the construction of new dams and the re-excavation of the existing ones. One of the biggest dams in the State, the Gubi Dam has continued to receive the attention of the government in order to made more relevant to the needs and aspirations of the people.
