Urban Agriculture Detail
Urban Agriculture is the practice of cultivating, processing, and distributing food in or around a village, town, or city.Urban agriculture can also involve animal husbandry, aquaculture, agroforestry, and horticulture. These activities also occur in peri-urban areas as well.
Urban farming is generally practiced for income-earning or food-producing activities, though in some communities the main impetus is recreation and relaxation Urban agriculture contributes to food security and food safety in two ways: first, it increases the amount of food available to people living in cities, and second, it allows fresh vegetables, fruits, and meat products to be made available to urban consumers. It decreases food deserts. A common and efficient form of urban agriculture is the biointensive method.

Agriculture In California

Agriculture In California Detail
Sustainable Agriculture is on top of the priority list for the state of California.
A sustainable progress report has been completed and the state of California is on track to meet a variety of environmental goals which were originally established by ranchers, health groups and many farmers.
The progress report revealed that the agriculture industry is booming and record revenue has been earned by a majority of farmers. The majority of the growth in the agriculture industry can be contributed to an increase in exports. The unemployment rate has also been positively affected as agriculture heavy states have seen a decrease in the percentage of people out of work.
Locating challenges for food producers has also become an important issue to the Department of Food & Agriculture as well as the Board of Food & Agriculture. After many years of meetings, a strategy was ultimately created for a sustainable food supply.
