Agricultural Science

Agricultural Science Detail
A broad-based agriculture program combining crops, animals, business, and technology in a hands-on approach makes learning an enjoyable experience. This degree program in general agriculture is recommended for agricultural teacher preparation and for students seeking a broad program that covers all facets of agriculture. Subject matter includes agricultural engineering technology, animal sciences, agricultural business management, ornamental horticulture, plant sciences, and natural resources. Teaching and learning environments often include agriculture science laboratories, greenhouses, school farms, agricultural mechanics laboratories, supervised agriculture experience projects, and FFA programs. A bachelor's degree in agricultural science and education is excellent preparation for admission into the agriculture teaching credential program.
World population is growing – the latest United Nations’ forecast is for food demand to rise by 50% by 2030. Countries around the world, in both developed and developing regions are becoming increasingly concerned about food production, energy and water supplies. How can crop and animal production systems meet increasing demand for food with fewer resources and without damaging the environment? How will climate change affect our ability to produce food?
